Summer Volunteers Needed!
Need volunteer hours to graduate? Have some extra time to lend a helping hand? Join us at our San Carlos and San Jose warehouses to help feed hungry kids this summer!

In addition to sorting donated food, volunteers are needed to make 65,000 meal and snack bags for the summer nutrition program for low income children.

Approximately 80 partner non-profit agencies provide summer recreational activities and day camps for underserved children. These programs need food to help feed low-income children during the summer when they do not receive free meals through school. The pre-pack breakfasts, lunches and snacks help great programs (such as Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, MACSA, Catholic Charities, and youth centers) get healthy food to vulnerable children during the summer months. San Carlos Hours
The times are Monday & Wednesday 12-3 pm, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 9-noon. Contact Rita Guntern Volunteer Manager at 650-610-0800 x415 or rguntern@shfoodbank.com.

San Jose Hours
May through July, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and/or 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. Sign up as an individual or as part of a group (10 max for group). Contact Lynn Lovely at 408 266-8866 x 247 or llovely@shfoodbank.com.

Please be prepared to work shifts in their entirety. Individuals and/or groups may not participate once the volunteer project has started.


Senior Food Distribution
Urgent Help is needed at these Brown Bag Direct Service Sites in Santa Clara County

Every week in Santa Clara county low-income seniors receive bags of groceries. Help is needed at these Second Harvest Food Bank’s satellite sites listed below with unloading food and setting up for distribution.

Please help put smiles on the faces of our seniors by lending a hand. Each site has a particular need. Look for locations that are convenient for you and then contact Christina Castillo, Program Coordinator, to let her know your interest in helping. She will fill you in on the details.

Accounting Needs
Do you have accounting experience? Do you have experience working with cash receipting process? Tasks include photocopying checks, readying donations for deposit.

Help is needed most Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Shift times can be as infrequent as one, four-hour shift per week to as much time as you have to offer.
